The "Billion Dollar Coach"
In 1978 I launched my first company, Computer Discount of America. It quickly grew to a million dollar company. While I had a degree in finance, I knew nothing about running a multi-million dollar company. It was then that I began reading books about many ascpects of business; finance, funding, marketing, customer service, employee engagement, and strategic planning. I applied these learnings to Computer Discount and the many businesses that were to come.
In 1994 I helped create a business plan for Instrumentation Engineering and in 2001 that business sold to Flex for $300 million.
And in 2003 I was asked to join the founding group of Diligent Board Member Services as Chief Operating Officer. The first thing I did was create a Plan... a Strategic Business Plan that lead to client growth and a public offering on the New Zealand Stock Exchange. In 2016 Diligent was aquired by private equity for $941 million NZD.
I'm sometimes referred to as the "Billion Dollar Coach", because as a strategic planning coach I have helped hundreds of companies with business planning and most importanly the execution of their strategy resulting in valuation in the Billions!
